Chapter 32: The Cameraman and the Fairy

The eerie castle loomed ahead, its jagged towers piercing the crimson sky. Dark mist swirled around its base, and an unsettling presence radiated from within.

Angeleva moved swiftly, transformed, her wings trailing a faint glow as she approached. Every step she took resonated with determination.

Angeleva (thinking):
"This foul energy… It’s almost unbearable. Whatever dark force is inside, it won’t last long."

As she neared the massive, reinforced gates, dozens of demon guards emerged from the shadows. Their grotesque forms twisted and snarled, their glowing red eyes locked onto her.

Demon Guard:
"Halt, intruder! No one enters without facing the wrath of Commander Lack!"

Angeleva didn’t flinch. She rolled her shoulders, her elegant stance unwavering.

Angeleva:
"I don’t have time for you."

The guards roared in unison and charged.

With a swift motion, Angeleva launched herself into the fray. Her radiant fairy beams cut through the darkness like piercing light, incinerating demons in bursts of fairy energy. She spun mid-air, avoiding their clawed strikes with impossible agility.

One by one, the guards fell. But as she delivered the Fairy Justice Beam, her senses flared. The darkness within the castle twisted unnaturally. Something awaited her — something far more sinister.

Angeleva (narrowing her eyes):
"Time to finish this."

With a flash of golden light, she vanished. Her invisibility technique allowed her to slip past the wreckage of the defeated guards unnoticed.

None of the demon guards inside the castle were able to notice her.

As the shadows consumed her presence, she moved swiftly through the castle gates, leaving nothing but a breeze in her wake.

Meanwhile, far from the graceful battle, Ian was experiencing a far less dignified descent. After being flung into the sky from the ship's crash, he spiraled uncontrollably, his arms flailing.

Ian (panicking mid-air):
"Okay, okay! Not my best idea! Why didn’t I strap in?!"

The ground rushed closer. Ian desperately fiddled with his camera, managing to turn it on mid-fall.

Ian (grinning nervously into the lens):
"Viewers! If I survive this, you are witnessing the most extreme footage of my career! This is—"

With a loud crash, Ian’s flight ended as he plummeted straight into a thick bush. Leaves and branches exploded in all directions. His camera, miraculously unharmed, captured the whole ordeal.

Ian (groaning):
"Oof… I’m alive! And so is the footage!"

He wobbled to his feet, brushing leaves from his clothes. But as he glanced ahead, his eyes widened.

In the distance, he saw the castle gates, now scattered with the charred remains of demon guards. Smoke lingered in the air. Ian gasped, already sensing the golden opportunity before him.

Ian (excitedly whispering into his camera):
"Ladies and gentlemen! It seems the legendary Fairy has already struck! Look at this devastation! This is cinematic gold!"

Oblivious to the remaining danger, Ian scurried forward, holding his camera out like a prized relic. He muttered excited commentary as he filmed the aftermath, his exaggerated whispers adding unnecessary drama.

Ian:
"And now, our brave hero ventures into the dark unknown… armed only with his camera and an unshakable sense of style!"

He adjusted his hair, winked at the camera, and slipped inside the castle.

Deep within the castle’s inner chambers, the air grew colder. Dimly lit torches flickered along the crumbling stone walls, casting twisted shadows. The sound of distant chains echoed ominously.

At the heart of the chamber, a massive stone altar stood. Blackened with ancient symbols, it pulsed with dark energy. Surrounding it, robed figures chanted in a guttural, demonic tongue. Their voices twisted the very air, amplifying the malevolence that filled the space.

Commander Lack, a monstrous, hulking demon with dark crimson skin and jagged horns, loomed over the altar. His glowing yellow eyes gleamed with malice. In his clawed hand, he held a corrupted staff, its tip dripping with dark essence.

Strapped to the altar was a young woman with blue hair, her wrists and ankles bound in glowing dark chains. Her once pristine uniform, now tattered, revealed the emblem of the Celestic Police — a symbol of intergalactic law enforcement. Her name was Olive, and she had been captured during a desperate mission to investigate the demonic corruption of this planet.

Commander Lack (grinning maliciously):
"The ritual nears completion. Your precious Celestic Police will never reach you in time."

Olive, though weakened, glared defiantly.

Olive (gritting her teeth):
"You won’t win. Someone will definitely stop you."

Lack's laugh echoed, sending shivers through the chamber.

Commander Lack:(mockingly)
"Really....? Are you kidding me...? No one will be able to stop me and whoever tries to stop me will meet their end soon enough as once your soul is devoured, my power will grow unstoppable!"

The chanting intensified. The dark energy coiled around Olive, threatening to consume her. Her breaths grew ragged, the strength in her body fading.

But just as the ritual reached its peak, a faint shimmer stirred in the shadows.

Invisible to all, Angeleva slipped through the dark corridors, her presence like a whisper in the wind. She could feel the oppressive energy growing stronger with every step.

As she approached the chamber, the monstrous form of Commander Lack came into view. But what caught her attention most was the woman on the altar. Olive’s pained expression and the dark magic consuming her sent a spark of fury through Angeleva.

Angeleva (thinking):
"They’re sacrificing her… Not on my watch."

Silently, she positioned herself behind a massive pillar. Carefully observing the movements of the cultists, she formulated her plan.

But then —

Ian, completely oblivious to the severity of the situation, stumbled into the chamber. Still holding his camera, he whispered excitedly.

Ian (whispering dramatically):
"And now we find ourselves in the heart of darkness! Will our brave cameraman survive this daring infiltration? Let’s find out!"

Angeleva, wide-eyed and furious, nearly lost her invisibility from sheer frustration.

Angeleva (thinking):
"Idiot! He’s going to ruin everything!"

Commander Lack's eyes shifted toward Ian, sensing the disturbance. Ian, realizing he was now very much noticed, slowly lowered his camera and gave a weak wave.

Ian (nervously):
"Uhh… Surprise interview?"

With a furious roar, Commander Lack gestured toward Ian. The cultists lunged forward.

Ian (panicking):
"Nope! Nope! Abort mission!"

But before the demons could reach him, a burst of radiant energy erupted from the shadows.

Angeleva, now visible, unleashed a devastating Fairy Radiance that sent the cultists sprawling.

Angeleva (firmly):
"Stay away from him."

Commander Lack snarled, his staff glowing with dark power.

Commander Lack:
"You meddling fairy! You dare interfere?"

Angeleva (stepping forward, her wings glowing):
"I’m not here to talk."
