Chapter 92: Wings of Resolve

Ian's voice rang through the camera, his frantic commentary barely masking his rising panic.

"Okay, folks! I know we're all thinking the same thing here! How is this guy not down yet? I mean, come on! Big bro and Big sis just unleashed the most epic power couple combo ever, and he's still standing?!"

He zoomed in on Lucifero's ominous figure, now clad in twisted, blackened violet armor with divine sigils pulsating along its surface.

"Is this even legal? Somebody check the rulebook! Because I'm calling foul!"

Lucifero raised his hand, golden chains of divine energy materializing and slithering through the air like serpents. Safari and Angeleva, still recovering from the previous attack holding hands, barely managed to stand.

Ian's voice cracked as he shook the camera dramatically.

"And now we've got glowing death chains, ladies and gentlemen! Because why not? Villains always get the best toys!"

But then, as Lucifero launched the chains forward, Angeleva's eyes burned with determination.

"Radiant Bloom!"

She waved her wand, sending a flurry of golden petals that burst into blinding light. The chains recoiled momentarily, buying precious seconds.

"BOOM! And just like that, Angeleva says 'Not today, Satan!'" Ian exclaimed, wiping imaginary sweat from his forehead. "I'd give that move a solid 9 out of 10! Stylish, dramatic, and most importantly, sparkly!"

Lucifero, unfazed, dashed through the remaining petals with impossible speed. Safari gritted his teeth, his aura flaring.

"Sappy Meteor Crash!"

He propelled himself forward as a dark comet of surging energy(still holding Angeleva). Lucifero countered with a raised palm. The collision sent shockwaves rippling across the battlefield.

Ian flailed as the camera shook violently. "WOAH! WOAH! And Big bro comes in with the ultimate 'I'm-not-done-yet' headbutt!"

Lucifero pushed Safari back, his sneer deepening.

"You call that strength? Pathetic."

The dark lord's fist glowed as he launched a devastating energy beam. Safari barely managed to cross his arms in defense.

"Devil's Shield!"

A massive dark barrier flickered to life, absorbing the impact — but cracks quickly spiderwebbed across it.

Ian gasped dramatically. "Oh, come on! Who gave Lucifero the DLC for extra attacks? Where's the balance update?!"

But as the dust cleared, Angeleva and Safari locked eyes still holding hands.

"Time to stop holding back," Angeleva said, her voice steady.

Safari nodded.

Their energies intertwined once more. The battlefield trembled as the power surged through them.

Lucifero's grin faltered.

Ian immediately perked up, dramatically switching to a victorious tone.

"YES! That's what I'm talking about! Let's hear it for the unbeatable dream team!" He shook his fist. "And if Lucifero doesn't like it? Too bad!"

Safari and Angeleva launched forward.

"Fairy-Devil Finale!"

A swirling beam of pink petals and emerald flames erupted from their palms, twisting in a dazzling spiral. Lucifero raised his arms to block, but the sheer force sent him skidding backward.

"BOOM, BABY! That's a direct hit!" Ian cheered, his voice cracking with excitement. "Can we get a slow-motion replay on that one? No? Fine, I'll just relive it in my mind forever!"

Lucifero emerged from the smoke, his pristine armor now dented and scorched. He glared at the duo, his patience clearly wearing thin.

Ian pointed furiously at the screen. "He's mad now! But guess what? Nobody cares!"

Lucifero growled. "Enough!"

The cathedral debris trembled as pillars of golden fire erupted around him. The sheer force knocked Angeleva and Safari back.

Ian, refusing to be discouraged, kept the camera steady. "Okay, slight setback. But remember, the hero comeback is a certified classic! Just wait for it!"

Lucifero launched forward.

"Judgment Spears!"

Golden spears of divine energy rained down from above. Safari, despite his injuries, summoned a powerful surge of dark energy from his hammer taking support of Angeleva's energy.

"Devil Hammer Incineration!"

A vortex of black flames spiraled upward from Safari's hammer by channeling his and Angeleva's combined powers, intercepting the incoming spears.

Ian cheered. "YES! We love a good counterattack! Give this man a trophy!"

But Lucifero appeared from the shadows, his fist glowing ominously.

"Stay down."

He delivered a devastating punch, sending Safari crashing into the ruins below dragging Angeleva with him.

Ian's hands flew to his face. "NOOO! Foul! Technical foul! Where's the ref?!"

Angeleva, fury ignited, soared toward Lucifero lifting Safari.

"Fairy Blossom Strike!"

She unleashed a cascade of radiant flower-shaped blasts from her wand(using a little bit of energy from Safari to amplify it a bit), but Lucifero elegantly dodged each one. He countered with a swift wave of dark energy.

"Divine Rupture."

Angeleva gritted her teeth, barely deflecting the attack with a fairy barrier.

Ian was relentless. "Okay, but who names these moves? Divine Rupture? That's so last season! Someone get Lucifero a branding manager!"

Lucifero, visibly irritated, extended both hands. The atmosphere twisted into a swirling black vortex.

"Your resistance is futile."

Ian gasped. "Oh, come on! Nobody says that unironically!"

But before the attack could launch, Safari's voice roared through the air even in his weakened state.

"Hellfire Rebirth!"

Dark flames erupted around him, his injuries rapidly healing as his aura blazed with newfound strength. Angeleva's hand still joined flew beside, her own energy glowing brighter than ever.

Ian pumped his fist. "YES! The last-second power-up! Classic move! It's like they're reading from the hero handbook!"

Lucifero's eyes narrowed. "Impossible."

Safari grinned, the flames swirling around him.

"You were right about one thing, Lucifero." His eyes burned with determination. "We're not strong alone."

Angeleva nodded, her wings shining. "But together? You don't stand a chance."

"Devil-Fairy Judgment!"

A colossal blast of green and pink energy shot forth, illuminating the battlefield. Lucifero, unable to fully counter it, roared in frustration as the explosion engulfed him.

Ian threw his arms in the air. "AND THAT'S GAME, FOLKS!"

The dust settled. Lucifero lay motionless beneath the rubble, the divine energy around him shattered.

Safari and Angeleva stood tall, hands intertwined.

Ian's voice cracked with pure excitement. "I don't know about you, but that's a solid 15 out of 10 victory! Roll the credits! Somebody throw confetti!"

He pointed dramatically at the camera.

"And Lucifero? Enjoy that dirt nap, buddy. You earned it."

Everything seemed to be fine. The Safari Family stood amidst the ruined battlefield, the once-overwhelming presence of Lucifero now diminished. They savored the hard-earned victory, believing the demon general to be defeated at last. Smiles of relief spread across their faces, and even the usually stoic Safari allowed himself a brief moment of satisfaction.

Angeleva, standing by Safari's side, was soon met with curious questions from the family. Zack, eyes wide with admiration, eagerly asked about the dazzling moves she had unleashed in battle — the Fairy Blossom Strike and the Radiant Bloom.

Olive chimed in, pointing out how these attacks seemed unlike anything Angeleva had shown before.

Angeleva nodded with a soft smile, brushing her pink hair aside.

She explained that these were abilities she had been carefully saving for stronger foes.

Keeping a low profile was often the wiser strategy, as revealing all her powers too soon would have placed her at a disadvantage.

She further noted that the Demon Generals, like Lucifero, grew stronger the longer they fought, and revealing her strongest abilities prematurely could have backfired.

Ian, still holding his trusty camera, turned to Safari with equal curiosity.

He recalled the devastating attacks Safari had used in the final moments — Sappy Meteor Crash, a massive energy-infused headbutt that tore through Lucifero's defense; Devil Hammer Incineration, a relentless bombardment of compressed hellfire; and the chilling Hellfire Rebirth, which restored Safari's body while pushing him past his limits.

The crew marveled at the sheer destructive force behind these techniques.

Safari gave a faint smile, though fatigue lingered in his expression. He echoed Angeleva's reasoning, explaining that he had refrained from using these moves before. "If I reveal everything in the early stages, I wouldn't survive," he admitted. His combat style relied on the element of surprise, conserving his trump cards until the most crucial moments.

However, just as the atmosphere calmed, Safari's body swayed. Without warning, he collapsed onto Angeleva, his weight resting heavily against her.

Panic flashed across her face as she held him up. "Safari!" she called out, her heart pounding. Zack, Olive, Jen, and Ian rushed closer, concern etched on their faces.

Safari gritted his teeth, his breathing labored. He weakly explained that the Hellfire Rebirth he had used came with a devastating cost.

While it granted him the ability to heal severe wounds, it also consumed a portion of his life expectancy every time it was used.

He admitted that it was a dangerous gamble, and though he had managed to recover from his injuries, it wasn't without consequence.

"But it wasn't the perfect time to use it," he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper. "My body... couldn't take it..."

Angeleva's heart ached as she realized the truth. Safari had not been in any shape to unleash those powerful attacks. Despite his injuries and overwhelming fatigue, he had forced himself to fight — not because he believed he could handle it, but because he refused to become a burden.

He had pushed beyond his limits, willing to sacrifice himself if it meant protecting his family.

"Why didn't you say anything?" Angeleva whispered, tightening her hold on him.

Safari gave a faint chuckle. "Because... you all were counting on me."

But just as they processed his words, a sinister sound echoed through the air. A bone-chilling laugh.

"Did you think it was over?"

The air grew heavy with malice as the twisted voice of Lucifero resounded. Their eyes shot toward the fallen general, who was now rising to his feet. His body cracked and twisted unnaturally, his aura surging once more. Blood dripped from his grotesque form, yet his grin only widened.

"You insects..." Lucifero growled, his eyes glowing with malevolence. "I'm not done yet."

The sight of him sent a wave of fear through the family.

Safari, still leaning on Angeleva, clenched his fists. Despite the unbearable strain, his warrior spirit refused to falter.

Angeleva, her resolve strengthening, held Safari firmly, her pink wings glowing with renewed determination.

Angeleva took a deep breath, her eyes narrowing as she assessed the situation.

Safari was barely able to stand, and the demonic presence of Lucifero was growing more menacing by the second. Yet even in his weakened state, Safari's spirit remained defiant.

But she wouldn't allow him to push himself any further.

Without a second thought, she reached for his hands, holding them firmly. Her delicate fingers entwined with his rough ones, and she pulled him closer. Safari's breathing was ragged, but he tried to straighten himself, unwilling to accept his condition.

"You're not standing alone," she said, her voice low but resolute. "Lean on me."

Safari blinked, caught off guard. Before he could protest, Angeleva turned to the others. "Tie his arms around my neck. And his legs around my waist."

The family exchanged shocked glances. Zack opened his mouth to speak, but Angeleva's glare left no room for argument. "Now!" she commanded.

"But... Big sis, what are you doing?" Olive hesitated. "He's heavy, and you're exhausted—"

"I don't care," Angeleva cut in. "He's too weak to walk, and there's no way I'm letting him endanger his own life by trying to fight like this." She glanced at Safari, her voice softening. "You're not going anywhere without me."

Safari gritted his teeth, his pride refusing to let him agree. "I-I'm fine," he muttered, though the tremble in his legs said otherwise. "I can still—"

"Enough," Angeleva interrupted sharply. "Hurry. Tie him up!"

Though Safari tried to pull away, his strength had all but abandoned him. Angeleva was determined, and no amount of resistance could overpower her resolve. Zack and Olive quickly obeyed, carefully tying Safari's arms around Angeleva's neck. Jen secured his legs around her waist, ensuring he wouldn't slip.

Safari's breathing grew heavier as the realization sank in. He was completely dependent on her now.

"You have to rely on me," Angeleva said, her wings beginning to flutter. "Just this once."

Safari's head lowered in frustration. "I... I can't just—"

"Without you, we can't face Raven," Angeleva snapped, her voice filled with conviction. "You have to live, Safari. For your family. For yourself. Sometimes, you need to leave it to someone else."

His eyes locked onto hers. The golden glow of her wings reflected her determination, and the warmth of her presence reminded him of why they were still standing — because they fought together.

"And this time," she whispered, "that someone is me."

Safari clenched his jaw, unwilling to argue further. He hated the helplessness that weighed on him, but there was something in Angeleva's words that struck deep. She wasn't just protecting him — she was protecting them all.

"...Fine," he murmured at last. "But be careful."

A soft smile touched her lips. "I will."

With that, Angeleva's wings flared. A gust of energy surrounded her as she lifted off the ground, carrying Safari securely on her back. The weight of his body was nothing compared to the weight of her determination.

Lucifero snarled, his twisted grin widening as he prepared for another assault. The battlefield trembled beneath his sinister presence.

"Let's end this," Angeleva declared, her voice echoing through the ruined atmosphere.

And with Safari leaning on her, she soared high, ready to face Lucifero once more.
