Chapter 33: Even Devotion Fails

Mike swung his glowing Magic Wand, sending blasts of fire-infused energy crashing into the dark tendrils. Heidi leaped into the air, spinning mid-flight and hurling her Forks like golden spears, tearing through the writhing shadows.

But Draven wasn’t fazed. With a sinister grin, he conjured a storm of crimson lightning, hurling it toward them.

Draven: "Your devotion means nothing against absolute power!"

Mike: "We’ll see about that!"

He crossed his arms, forming a glowing blue barrier just in time. The lightning clashed violently against it, sparks flying in all directions. Heidi took the opportunity to rush forward, aiming her weapon directly at Draven.

Heidi: "Eat this!"

She slammed her fork into the ground, sending a shockwave of energy racing toward him. But Draven leapt high, avoiding the blast with ease. From above, he summoned dark spikes to rain down upon them.

Mike and Heidi narrowly dodged, rolling to opposite sides.

Heidi: "He's faster than before!"

Mike: "Stay focused. We have to outlast him!"

Realizing brute force wasn’t enough, they shifted tactics.

Mike began forming intricate flames in the air, his fire magic swirling around him like a storm. Every bit of flame glistened with light, his devotion enhancing its purity.

Heidi, on the other hand, imbued her utensils with radiant energy, making them glow with golden brilliance. Each swing sent out rippling waves of warmth that purified the lingering darkness.

They moved in perfect sync — Mike’s magic forming shields and openings for Heidi to strike, while she protected him from Draven’s relentless onslaught.

Draven: "Is this all you’ve got?"

With a roar, Draven unleashed a massive shockwave, sending them flying.

Mike and Heidi tumbled across the battlefield, groaning as the force knocked the air from their lungs.

But Draven wasn’t done. He raised his hand, and the battlefield distorted.

Illusions formed.

Mike saw Heidi collapsing, her form flickering and fading like a dying ember.

Heidi saw Mike standing motionless, his eyes void of life.

Draven: "Devotion is meaningless if the one you love is gone. Now... despair."

The pain in their hearts was unbearable.

But then — a spark.

Their hands reached out, and even through the illusions, they felt each other’s presence.

Heidi: "Mike… I’m still here."

Mike: "Heidi… I’ll always be here."

The illusions shattered like broken glass.

They rose, determination burning in their eyes.

Heidi: "Draven, you tried to break us, but all you did was make us stronger!"

Mike: "Our devotion isn’t a weakness. It’s our greatest strength!"

Draven: (grinning coldly)
"You think this fragile form will save you?"

Before they could react, he vanished.

In an instant, he reappeared behind Mike.

Draven:
"Too slow."

He drove his fist into Mike’s back. A shockwave rippled through the air as Mike was sent crashing into the ground, creating a crater beneath him.

Heidi screamed.

Heidi:
"Mike!"

She spun her forks around, her energy crackling. Lightning surged from her forks as she unleashed a furious barrage.

But Draven stood still, blocking every attack with one hand.

Draven:
"Tch. That's not even a warm up. How Pathetic!"

Then, with terrifying force, he grabbed Heidi by the wrist and slammed her into the ground.

CRACK.

The impact shook the entire swamp.

Mike struggled to stand, coughing heavily. Blood trickled from his lips beneath the armour, but he refused to give up.

Mike: (gasping)
"We’re not done yet."

He summoned a potion and combined it with his water magic, channeling the last of his energy into one powerful spell.

"Tsunami Surge!"

A massive wave of water roared toward Draven.

But as the water neared him, Draven extended his hand, dark energy spiraling around his palm

With a simple gesture, he parted the wave, the water evaporating into nothingness.

Draven:
"You two are still just children playing with power."

He lifted his other hand. A black spear formed from his energy, pulsing with destructive force.

Draven:
"This ends now."

He launched the spear directly at Mike and Heidi.

They barely managed to react.

Mike leapt forward, creating a fire barrier with his wand, while Heidi attempted to deflect with her frying pan crackling with electricity( a reflection of her raw power).

But it wasn’t enough.

The spear shattered through their defenses, engulfing them in a devastating explosion.

BOOM!

Both warriors were sent flying.

Mike collapsed in the dirt.

Heidi lay motionless, her body trembling from the immense pain.

Their Devotion Form flickered, then vanished.

Draven approached them, looking down with disdain.

Draven:
"So this is the strength of those who challenge the Vampire Family? Tch. How laughable."

Mike coughed, his vision blurred.

Mike: (whispering)
"We… can’t lose…"

But Draven ignored him.

He stood tall, his voice echoing.

Draven:
"You’re not even worth killing."

He turned his back on them.

Draven:
"You will never be a threat to us. Keep playing your little games, but remember this—"

His crimson eyes gleamed.

Draven:
"The Vampire Family stands above all. You are nothing."

With a final glance, he disappeared into the shadows, leaving them broken and humiliated.

Mike and Heidi remained on the ground, defeated.

For the first time, there was no triumphant recovery.

No sudden surge of strength.

Only silence.

Mike: (weakly)
"Heidi… are you okay?"

Heidi: (through trembling breaths)
"I… I don’t know."

They didn’t exchange words of encouragement

Because something had shattered within them.

A crushing defeat.

And an overwhelming sense of failure.

As they lay there, both of them couldn’t shake the same thought:

"What’s still missing?"

While Mike and Heidi reeled from their humiliating loss, an unseen catastrophe had been unfolding across the universe.

Lilith, the sinister and cunning wife of Nosferatu, had been silently corrupting planets while the heroes were busy fighting Alucard, Carmilla, and Draven.

She was a master of suppression, keeping her aura hidden, making her movements undetectable.

Now, 70% of the universe was already under her control.

Nosferatu was pleased.

Standing in the shadows of his massive throne room, he finally revealed his grand plan to the viewers:

Nosferatu:
"Once all planets are consumed by darkness…"

"Once all light is extinguished from this universe…"

"A new world shall be born—The Dracula Dimension. My dream universe."

"A dark utopia where I reign supreme."

His sinister laugh echoed across his dark domain.
