Chapter 11: Adapt or Fall! The Solar Warrior Evolves!
The Next Day
Dawn broke over Soluna, the sky painted in soft hues of yellow and blue as the Solar and Lunar people worked to clear the rubble left behind by Molten Terror.
Despite the destruction, a faint sense of hope lingered - Tim, the Solar Warrior, had proven he could protect them.
But far above the planet, inside Dark Void's shadowy baseship, the mood was far less hopeful for his commanders.
On Dark Void's Ship...
Sunburn paced angrily, still stewing over his monster's humiliating defeat.
"I would've won if that brat didn't have that ridiculous glowing sword," he muttered.
Moonsalt, standing tall with her arms folded, smirked. "Face it, Sunburn - your Molten Terror was all fire and no fury."
Dark Void, sitting on his dark throne, rested his chin on his hand.
"Enough." His voice was calm, yet it cut through the room like a blade.
"It's your turn, Moonsalt."
She bowed. "I've already prepared a creature unlike any other, my lord."
Robokamen stepped forward, revealing a swirling dark mist inside a containment capsule. The mist began to shift and twist, taking a form that was both terrifying and mesmerizing.
Moonsalt grinned. "I call it Void Specter - a shadow beast made of pure, living darkness. It can phase through anything - buildings, attacks, even people. The Solar Warrior won't be able to land a single hit."
Dark Void's smile deepened. "And its purpose?"
"To spread fear," Moonsalt replied. "Wherever it passes, the people will be left paralyzed by their own worst nightmares. The more fear it absorbs, the stronger it becomes."
Sunburn huffed. "Hmph, typical of you - all illusions and tricks."
Moonsalt's gaze darkened. "Fear is more powerful than you think, Sunburn."
With a wave of her hand, RoboKamen activated the launch sequence. The Void Specter hissed as the containment capsule burst open, and the creature spiraled out of the ship, streaking toward Soluna like a sinister comet.
Dark Void leaned back, his eyes glowing. "Let's see how your fearsome Solar Warrior handles something he can't even touch."
In Soluna...
Tim was once again slacking off.
Heatsun's voice boomed across the training field. "Tim! You call that a battle stance?!"
Tim yawned, twirling his Solar Saber lazily. "Come on, Heatsun. I already beat that lava monster. Don't I get at least one day off?"
Henry chuckled. "You really think Dark Void's gonna wait for your vacation?"
Marie smirked. "He's probably planning his next attack right now."
Tim sighed. "Yeah, yeah... fine." He straightened his back - though still looked half-asleep.
Suddenly, a sharp wind swept through the air, bringing with it an unsettling chill. The sky above darkened unnaturally, casting an eerie gray over Soluna.
"What... is that?" Tim muttered, his sleepy demeanor evaporating.
Then they saw it - a swirling mass of black mist descending onto the village.
It snaked through the streets, slipping through walls and doors as if they didn't exist.
Wherever it passed, people froze in place, their eyes wide with horror. Some clutched their heads, trembling. Others collapsed to their knees, too afraid to move.
Heatsun's face hardened. "A fear-based creature..."
Tim gripped his Solar Saber. "Guess break time's over."
The Void Specter suddenly stopped - directly in front of Tim and the others.
Its shape shifted constantly - one moment a shadowy wolf, the next a faceless humanoid figure.
Whispering tendrils of darkness slithered from its core, reaching out as if trying to touch them.
Tim lunged forward as he transformed. "SOLAR SABER SLASH!"
His saber sliced through the creature - but instead of wounding it, the blade simply passed through like cutting smoke.
"What the-?" Tim stepped back.
Moonsalt's voice echoed from the creature. "You can't hit what isn't there, Solar Warrior."
Tim gritted his teeth. "Great. A monster I can't even touch."
The Void Specter lashed out with a tendril of darkness, brushing against Tim's arm.
Immediately, a wave of fear surged through him - a vision flashing in his mind.
He saw Soluna in flames... Heatsun defeated... his friends lying broken at Dark Void's feet...
As he was distracted, the monster didn't sit idle, the Solar and Lunar citizens who were nearby found themselves frozen in eternal nightmares of there own.
They screamed in fear and agony.
"No, please...I don't.. want..to..lose...them"
"You all... betrayed me...I thought.. you were all friends...I have no one..."
"Please... don't...kill..them.. they are the only family...I have..."
The atmosphere was like a realm of despair and sorrow.
Tim staggered back, his heart pounding. "No... that's not real."
Heatsun's voice cut through the haze. "Tim! Don't give in - it's feeding off your fear!"
Tim shook his head, gripping his saber tighter. "I'm not afraid... I'm not afraid!"
The Void Specter howled, growing larger as it absorbed more fear from the nearby villagers.
Henry turned to Heatsun. "How do we fight something that can't be hit?"
Marie clenched her fists. "We have to figure out its weakness... fast."
Tim stood firm, his breathing steadying.
"I may not be able to touch you," he said, raising his Solar Saber, "but I have only one thought in mind- light always drives away darkness."
The Saber began to glow brighter - so bright that it cut through the shadowy mist surrounding the Void Specter. The creature recoiled slightly, its form flickering.
Heatsun's eyes lit up. "That's it - light weakens it!"
Tim opened his eyes slowly with a smirk. "Alright, shadow freak - let's see how you like this."
He pointed his saber at the creature, channeling every ounce of solar energy he could summon.
"SOLAR RADIANCE!"
A blinding beam of pure white light erupted from the saber, engulfing the Void Specter entirely.
The creature writhed and shrieked trying to fight back but it was of no use and its form dissolved as the light pierced through every inch of its being.
Within moments, the shadow beast evaporated into nothingness.
The fear that had gripped the village vanished instantly. People slowly got to their feet, shaking off the lingering dread.
Tim lowered his saber, a triumphant smile spreading across his face.
"Guess darkness isn't so tough after all."
"By the way, it seemed to end faster, did I get the help of plot armour?"
Heatsun said. "It just means you are growing stronger after some monster training and adapting. You have to thank Dark Void for that."
Tim sighed in a proud yet bored tone. "That's it. Just hero getting stronger."
Henry smirked, intentionally patting Tim hard in the back channeling his Solar energy.
"Ow! You used your Solar powers to hit me? That's dirty." Tim grumbled.
Henry laughed. "For a hero, this is just a friendly pat."
"YOU.." Tim chased Henry with his Solar Saber in annoyance.
Marie smiled looking at them while Heatsun was somehow seeming to have a slight smile in his usual expression satisfied with Tim's growth.
As they stared at the environment, every Solunar people was releived, pinching, crying and even cheering as they still weren't able to process they were free from the nightmares.
On Dark Void's Ship...
Moonsalt's jaw clenched. "Impossible... my monster..."
Sunburn laughed mockingly. "Looks like your little shadow pet wasn't so scary after all."
Dark Void's expression remained unreadable.
"Interesting," he said softly. "The boy learns quickly."
He turned to RoboKamen. "Prepare something... more destructive for next time."
RoboKamen bowed. "Yes, Lord."
Moonsalt clenched her fists, her fury burning like ice.
"This isn't over, Solar Warrior," she whispered. "Not by a long shot."
The Next Day
Dark clouds swirled above Soluna again, an ominous sign that Dark Void's forces were not finished. This time, inside the dark spaceship, Sunburn stood with a sly grin.
"That brat beat Molten Terror head-on," Sunburn muttered, "so let's see how he handles something he can't even find."
RoboKamen revealed a sleek, metallic creature - Shade Serpent - a snake-like monster with reflective scales that allowed it to blend perfectly into its surroundings.
"This one won't roar or rampage," Sunburn said, "it'll slither through Soluna, tearing down buildings and attacking people - all without being seen."
Dark Void gave a small nod. "Launch it."
The Shade Serpent shot down to Soluna, silently slipping into the planet's cities.
In Soluna...
Tim sat cross-legged, spinning his Solar Saber in his hand. "Weird... no explosions today?"
Heatsun frowned. "Something's off."
Suddenly - CRASH!
A building's wall caved in. Then another - and another - yet there was no sign of a monster.
People screamed, running as invisible forces wrecked homes and roads.
Tim leapt to his feet. "What's doing this?!"
Henry squinted. "I... I think I saw something move - like a shimmer in the air."
Marie gasped. "It's camouflaged!"
Heatsun's voice boomed. "Tim, use your light - it'll reveal anything hidden in darkness!"
Tim held his saber high.
"SOLAR RADIANCE!"
A burst of blinding light erupted from the blade, casting golden rays across the city.
In the glare, the Shade Serpent's outline flickered - a long, metallic snake with blade-like scales, hissing furiously as it realized it had been exposed.
"Got you!" Tim charged at the beast.
But the Shade Serpent was fast - darting into the shadows, now visible but still swift.
Heatsun shouted, "You have to corner it before striking!"
Tim smirked with confidence. "Then let's box it in."
With Heatsun, Henry, and Marie cutting off its escape routes, Tim unleashed a powerful downward slash.
"SOLAR SABER SLICE"
The golden blade sliced through the serpent's core, causing it to shatter into shards of metal and vanish.
In Dark Void's ship...
Sunburn's fist slammed into the wall. "That little pest! Again?!"
Moonsalt chuckled. "Guess sneak attacks aren't your thing. And well yours didn't even seemed to last for even a second."
Sunburn(enraged): "Are you trying to mock me? I was just experimenting."
Dark Void simply said, "Prepare something even more devastating."
His crimson eyes gleamed. "We will break Soluna - and the Solar Warrior - piece by piece."
The Next Day
A chilling silence hung over Soluna the next morning. The air felt heavier, and the sky, though clear, seemed darker - an unnatural gloom creeping over the land.
Inside Dark Void's ship, Moonsalt stood with a cruel smile, watching the aftermath of Sunburn's failure.
"Subtlety isn't your strong suit, Sunburn," she taunted.
Sunburn growled but said nothing.
RoboKamen clanked into the room, revealing a floating, ethereal creature - Phantom Wisp - a ghostly monster composed of swirling shadows and mist. It had no physical form, just glowing violet eyes and claw-like tendrils of smoke.
"This one doesn't destroy Soluna's buildings," Moonsalt said, "it devours the will of its people. With every soul it touches, their hope fades - and once there's no hope, their precious Solar Warrior will crumble."
Dark Void gave a sinister nod. "Release it."
The Phantom Wisp drifted down toward Soluna, its form almost invisible as it melted into the shadows.
In Soluna...
Tim stretched, yawning loudly. "No explosions again? Maybe they're finally giving up."
Heatsun glared. "Don't be foolish - the enemy never rests."
Henry and Marie exchanged uneasy glances. Something felt wrong.
Soon, a strange stillness crept into the city.
People moved sluggishly, their faces blank and lifeless. Shops were left unattended, children stopped playing, and even the guards stood motionless, their solar/lunar energies drooping in their hands.
"What's... going on?" Marie whispered.
A faint, sinister laugh echoed through the air - but there was no visible source.
Tim's heart pounded. "Something's here."
He drew his Solar Saber, its glow slicing through the creeping shadows as he transformed.
Then, a villager collapsed. Another simply slumped to their knees, a vacant expression on their face. The crowd began falling one by one - not from injury, but from sheer loss of will.
"It's draining their hope!" Henry gasped.
Heatsun's voice was firm. "Tim! Your light is the only thing that can push back this darkness, you must make the people believe again!"
Tim's hands trembled slightly on his sword's hilt. "But... how do I fight something I can't see?"
A voice whispered in his ear - cold, soft, mocking.
"You can't," the Phantom Wisp hissed.
Tim spun around, slashing wildly - but hit only air. The mist-like creature laughed, darting around him, its smoky tendrils reaching for the remaining villagers.
Heatsun roared. "Focus! Channel your energy outward"
Tim clenched his teeth. His Solar Saber pulsed with golden energy as he raised it high.
"SOLAR BREAKER!"
It struck it glowing like a Sun.
The Phantom Wisp shrieked as the Saber hit its form - no longer hidden, its smoky body twisted and writhed, trying to escape the beam's reach.
It somehow with a lot of desperation was able to corner itself from the range.
The Phantom Wisp covered itself in shadows yet again invisible.
Then suddenly, Tim was pierced by multiple dark tendrils coming out of nowhere.
Tim: "Urghh...It.."
Henry and Marie panicked. "Noooo.."
Marie muttered. "What do we do?"
Henry: "Damn! It's not exactly going as planned."
That's when Heatsun's voice came crashing. "It's not the time for you to waste your time panicking. The fate of Soluna is on the line. Do what you can, Tim is fighting for Soluna, for us so you should show your thanks your own ways."
Henry and Marie hearing the sudden words went stiff as they shouted. "Yes, Sir."
Marie then reacted instinctively using her daggers to freeze the tendrils of the Phantom Wisp that had pierced Tim.
Henry immediately followed up using his heated blade to break the tendrils, freeing Tim.
Heatsun then, channeled his Solar powers in his hand as he used Solar burst burning up the surroundings with controlled precision making sure none of his allies or innocents are caught in it.
The Wisp was now slightly visible as a result without recognizing.
Tim tried to stand keeping his hand on his armour as he was able to see the Wisp even though not in the most clearer way.
Then taking this as a little opening, with all his strength, he charged towards the monster slashing through every tendrils and dodging all will draining attacks. Even when he took a few will-draining attacks:-
Tim: "My will is to save Soluna from Dark Void. Don't you dare think you would be able to take it."
His will was overpowering it's draining attacks.
The Phantom Wisp felt it he was unstoppable, not even multiple stab attacks was enough to stop him.
He was on a different level.
Then-
"SOLAR SABER FINAL STRIKE!"
The creature wasn't able to process when it's core took the attack.
It let out a final, echoing wail before dissipating into a harmless mist.
Back on Dark Void's ship...
Moonsalt's fingers curled into a fist. "Impossible... it was formless - how could he still destroy it?"
Sunburn smirked. "Guess subtlety isn't your thing either."
Dark Void remained silent for a moment, then spoke softly.
"We don't need subtlety." His crimson eyes glimmered with menace. "We need destruction."
Tim meanwhile thought how far he was improving.
The previous monsters seemed tough but he adapted to that level of toughness.
So, they didn't seem that challenging anymore.
Tim was evolving gradually.
