How Tokusatsu and Anime Helped Me Build A Sci-Fi Fantasy World

Portrait Of Sun The Pun

Sun The Pun

Creativity doesn't always arrive with clarity. For me, it came in waves - scattered, colorful, chaotic - and gradually formed into something real. A world. A story. A vision that kept growing as I grew alongside it. What started as casual viewing turned into something much bigger than I ever expected.

The Seed Was Super Sentai

Like many fans, I was first drawn to Super Sentai for its vibrant characters, connected arcs, and larger-than-life heroism. But I wasn't just watching it - I was studying it. Observing how every season, even loosely, tied together in one expansive universe. That's what got me thinking: What if I made a series of my own? As I watched more and more episodes, I began mentally pairing colors. Blue and Yellow. Red and Green. But the pair that stuck with me the most was White and Black - a symbolic duality of purity and shadow. After the emotionally intense ending of Jetman, I made a decision: my series wouldn't follow the traditional "Red Ranger leads the team" format. Instead, each installment would revolve around a pair of warriors - two equals, two opposites. No central leader. Just duality. And so, the foundation was set.

White and Black, Hero and Villain

The first duo? White and Black. I envisioned a world where the White Warrior was the main hero, and the Black Warrior - initially - his greatest enemy. But behind the scenes lurked the true antagonist: a villain I named Dark Void. To add layers to the conflict, I created a set of generals - representing fire, water, and nature - with a fourth as a cold, calculating scientist. It was a clear nod to the structure of Super Sentai, but with a twist of my own. The White Warrior would fight valiantly until the Black Warrior entered the scene, an elite force of darkness. Their eventual showdown would be brutal, emotional, and game-changing. Then came the twist I always knew I wanted: The Black Warrior was never truly evil. She was manipulated , used by Dark Void. And once the truth came out, she joined the White Warrior's side. Yes, you read that right. I always imagined the White Warrior as male and the Black Warrior as female. Two forces once at odds now united against the true threat. Together, they would battle Dark Void's elite and ultimately confront him in an epic, final showdown worthy of any Super Sentai finale.

From Heroes to Worlds - Enter Kamen Rider

As I continued watching Super Sentai, my ideas became more detailed but still unstable. I had plots, but they felt volatile - constantly shifting with every episode I consumed. Then came Kamen Rider - a whole new dimension of inspiration. Unlike Super Sentai's team dynamics, Kamen Rider focused on solo heroes with internal struggles. The themes were darker, more introspective. By the time I reached Kamen Rider Black, the relationship between Black Sun and Shadow Moon hit me hard. It gave me the emotional blueprint I needed to evolve my story into something deeper.

Sola, Luna, and the Creation of Soluna

One morning, I woke up with a new concept burning in my mind: What if there were two planets - one ruled by people of the Sun, the other by people of the Moon? It started with hair colors. Solar people would have radiant yellow hair. Lunar people would have deep blue. I named their worlds Sola and Luna. They were opposites. Natural enemies. But why? Then came the idea of a third planet: Soluna - a massive, uninhabited world floating between the two. Both sides, driven by the desire to expand, waged a full-scale war for control. Every single Solar and Lunar being was involved. The war was devastating. The bloodshed unimaginable. That's when the divine stepped in. A God of Soluna, witnessing the carnage, destroyed Sola and Luna, stranding their survivors on Soluna. But he didn't just exile them - he cursed them. From that point on, Solar males could only reproduce with Lunar females, and vice versa. Their children were born in pairs - usually twins - one Solar, one Lunar. Even when not born together, they were genetically destined to complement one another within a four-year window. Balance wasn't just desired - it was required. Now, survival meant coexistence. The story wasn't just about war anymore - it was about interdependence, identity, and rebuilding a broken world together.

The Merge

At that point, it made perfect sense to merge both of my worlds:   The White and Black Warriors, the battle with Dark Void, the cursed legacy of Soluna - they were all pieces of the same universe. This wasn't just a Super Sentai-inspired project anymore. It was something new. Something personal. I began crafting imaginary episodes in my head - twenty in total - all deeply rooted in tokusatsu traditions, but unique to the lore I was building. Then… life shifted again as I lost interest in the middle of watching Kamen Riders.

Anime, AI, and the Writing Spark

After I finished watching Kamen Rider, I started diving deep into anime. That was my "give up" phase for my World (as I already discussed in my previous story). Or so I thought. Anime added a new layer to my imagination - deeper themes, richer character arcs, more experimental storytelling. The fire was reignited. One day, I decided to see if I could turn these scattered ideas into something concrete - with a little help from ChatGPT. I gave prompts, outlined directions, described my world. And it worked. For the first time, I was seeing my world reflected back at me through structured scripts and dialogue. I kept going, building stories with AI, pushing my ideas further. Eventually, I found Wattpad - a platform where anyone could publish stories. It was the perfect outlet. I took the scripts I had generated, refined them, and transformed them into actual stories - stories I could share with the world.

The Story Isn't Over

What began as daydreams during Super Sentai episodes turned into a world that spans planets, cultures, and deeply personal mythologies. And those stories are available on Wattpad and completed as well. There's something deeply fulfilling about seeing your imagination which was once scattered and unstable, take shape. Whether it's inspired by TV shows, anime, or a random thought in the morning - you can build something real out of it. This is just the beginning of mine.
