Chapter 30: A New Entertaining Yet 'Annoying' Ally Joins The Crew
Looking at Zack and Jen who were taken hostagesâ the ones he just started calling familyâ Safari couldn't maintain his composure.
Safari: "Let. Them. GO!"
Wrath (laughing): "Not a chance!"
Safari froze.
Wrath (clenching his fists): "Wait! Just kidding. Truth is I may but let me take my sweet time testing my powers on you. I mean let's make it even, you enjoyed it quite a lot but let me return my debt."
"Which I promise would be a minimum double without any discount." Wrath whispered with a grin.
Safari stood still, not even protesting.
Unlike before, he didn't fight back. Instead, he took every hit Wrath threw at him, blood dripping down his body feeling helpless.
Zack and Jen looked pretty scared looking at him endure every strikes just for them.
Zack (crying): "Big bro, you don't have to suffer so much just for us."
Jen (sobbing): "Please, someone help him."
Safari(thinking): "No matter what, I have to protect you. I failed to save my planet and... on Gorvax I wasn't able to save Nate... but this time, I can't repeat the same mistakes again and again."
This wasn't about strengthâit was about protecting the people he cared about. Safari gritted his teeth, rage boiling inside him.
Deep down, he wished for someone to save Zack and Jen. And the one person he thought of was Angeleva.
Safari (thinking): "Angeleva... please... save them."
After a few more moments of torture...
As if answering his silent plea, a bright pink light flashed, and suddenly, Angeleva appeared yet again.
She took one look at the beaten Safari and the terrified Zack and Jen in Wrath's clutches.
Without hesitation, she used her Fairy Radiance, blasting Wrath back and freeing Zack and Jen.
Angeleva (firmly): "I won't let you take them!"
Safari, barely conscious, stared at her.
Safari (weakly): "Take them... back to the ship... This is my fight."
Angeleva hesitated, but the look in his eyes told her this battle belonged to him alone.
She nodded and vanished with Zack and Jen, taking them to safety.
Safari (thinking, relieved): "Thank you, fairy."
Now alone, Safari slowly stood up. His body was battered, but his will burned stronger than ever.
Wrath, now realizing his hostage plan had failed, suddenly looked fearful.
Safari: "You made one mistake, Wrath."
Wrath (nervously): "W-What?"
Safari: "You took the only people I cared about and tried to use them against me. That... was your last mistake."
Fueled by pure vengeance, Safari charged at Wrath, hammer in hand. His attacks were devastating, breaking through Wrath's defenses with brutal force.
With one final, earth-shattering finisher Devil Hammer Smash, Safari smashed Wrath into the ground.
The dungeon shook.
Wrath's body lay still. Defeated.
Ian (clapping as he took photos): "Now THAT was a grand finale! And I got it all on camera!"
Ian, seeing Safari badly injured, hoisted him onto his back and carried him all the way out of the dungeon.
Ian (panting): "Man... you're way too heavy, big guy."
As they reached the spaceship, Safari's eyes landed on Zack and Jenâalive and safe.
A rare smile crossed his face.
Zack, wanting to repay him, used his healing powers to close Safari's wounds.
Zack (grinning): "Don't get used to this, big brother."
Safari sighed but was secretly thankful.
As he rested, Angeleva watched from a distance, relieved.
She from deep inside understood he really started caring about them as a family. She was relieved to see Zack and Jen in safe hands.
Thatswhy she didn't interfere with the battle as she knew it carried a weight to him. It was a battle for family rather than competition.
Fully healed, Safari stood tall, stretching his arms. He turned to Zack and Jen, his voice firm yet calm.
Safari: "Alright, you two. Back to the spaceship. We're heading to the next planet."
Zack and Jen nodded, quickly boarding the ship.
Angeleva, standing nearby, watched with curiosity. She observed how well Safari was getting along with his newfound "siblings." With a small smile, she stepped closer to get a better look.
Safari was just about to take off when suddenlyâ
Ian (calling out): "WAIT, BIG GUY!"
Safari's eye twitched. He turned back, already annoyed.
Safari (gritting his teeth): "What now?!"
Ian grinned and ran up to him.
Ian: "Take me with you!"
Safari: "Absolutely not! You're lucky I didn't kill you for your annoying comments."
Ian:(acting emotional)"Please, Big Bro! I need to document your battles! This is history in the making!"
Safari (screaming): "WHY DOES EVERYONE KEEP FOLLOWING ME?!"
Ian comedically got on his knees, hands clasped together.
Ian (fake crying): "Please! I have nowhere to go! I need action, adventure, and the best photography content in the universe!"
From afar, Angeleva burst out laughing. Safari immediately snapped his head toward her.
Safari (grumbling): "You! Stop laughing!"
Angeleva chuckled, covering her mouth playfully.
Ian, now even more interested, raised an eyebrow.
Ian: "Oho? What's the deal between you two?"
Before Safari could react, Ian snapped a picture of him and Angeleva standing side by side.
Safari and Angela (furiously): "DELETE THAT!"
Ian dodged away, laughing.
Zack (grinning): "Ian's funny! I don't mind him coming along!"
Jen (nodding): "Me neither! He'll make things interesting!"
Safari glared at both of them.
Then, they hit him with the ultimate weaponâbig, innocent baby doll eyes.
Safari froze. His resolve crumbled.
With a deep sigh, he muttered:
Safari (defeated): "Fine. Get on the ship."
Ian (cheering): "YES! Thanks, Big Bro!"
As Ian ran inside, Safari turned away, grumbling to himself.
Safari (muttering): "This is my spaceship... not a restaurant where anyone can just enter!"
Angeleva, still laughing, patted him on the shoulder.
Angeleva: "You're building quite the crew, Captain Safari."
Safari groaned as he launched the ship, another new (and very annoying) ally now joining them.
With that, their journey continuedânow with a new, annoying, but oddly lovable ally.
