Chapter 146: Heartbroken Devil vs. The Orb Warriors
Safari was drowning in his own dark thoughts when two ships appeared on the horizon. Their metallic frames glinted in the faint light filtering through the trees, descending rapidly from opposite directions.
The first ship opened in mid-air. A hulking, monstrous figure dove out, its twisted form crashing at Safariâs feet. The creature gasped, clutching its chest.
âHelp! Pleaseâhelp me!â it wheezed, voice trembling with terror. âTwo dangerous brats are chasing me!â
Before Safari could react, instinct kicked in. He stepped forward, dragging the creature behind him and raising his arm as a shield.
The second ship landed with a sharp hiss. The ramp lowered, revealing two figures stepping onto the forest floor with confidence.
One wore flowing robes inscribed with arcane symbols, a glowing wand pulsing in his gripâthe Blue Magician Warrior.
The other was clad in a yellow chef suit, yet radiating powerâthe Yellow Chef Warrior.
Safariâs pulse quickened. He rose to his feet, still shielding the creature. âWho are youâand why are you after him?â
They exchanged a glance before replying in unison.
âYouâre a devil. That makes you his ally.â
The words hung heavy. The forest went still, save for the faint hum of their ship. The monster behind Safari trembled with relief, gripping his arm.
The Magicianâs eyes glittered with purpose as he tapped his wand against the ground, magic swirling. The Chef cracked her knuckles, smirking like she was already bored.
Safari narrowed his eyes, his grip tightening on the Devil Hammer. Their aura was strangeânot like Gregory or Patriciaâs Celestic energy, but disciplined, refined⌠unnervingly familiar.
The Magicianâs voice carried authority. âStep aside. That creature is a criminal. Weâve chased him across multiple planets. Donât interfere.â
The Chef leaned forward, her smirk sharpening. âUnless, of course, you want to take a beating for a monster. Fine by meâI need a warm-up.â
Safari clenched his jaw. âI donât care who you are. This thing came to me for help. If you want him, tell me why.â
The creature shrieked desperately. âTheyâre lying! I didnât do anything! They just want me gone!â
The Chef snorted. âOh, please. You âaccidentallyâ destroyed three cities and âaccidentallyâ unleashed a swarm of shadow beasts? Try harder.â
The Magicianâs tone hardened. âEnough. Step asideâor weâll take you down with him.â
Safari growled, suspicion gnawing at him. He didnât trust the monster, but he trusted these strangers even less.
Mike raised his wand. Blue energy rippled outward in a circle. Heidi drew her forks, heat flaring around her fists.
Safari cracked his neck, spinning the Devil Hammer. His green aura burst to life, flaring like wildfire.
âIf you want himâŚâ he snarled, ââŚyouâll go through me.â
The Chef grinned wide. âGood. I was hoping youâd say that.â
They lunged. The forest exploded into chaos.
Safari roared, transforming into his Sap-Green Warrior form. His hammer struck the ground with a crushing force, sending tremors through the trees.
The Magicianâs eyes widened. âA Celestic WarriorâŚ? But not on our side.â
The Chef twirled her forks, flames sparking. âShame. You actually look kinda hot in green. Guess Iâll just break you instead.â
The Magician slammed his wand into the soil. âNature Bind!â
Glowing vines surged upward, coiling around Safariâs limbs like steel chains. They constricted hard, threatening to crush him.
âBlazing Fork Strike!â The Chef shouted, spinning mid-air. Her flaming forks came crashing downâ
BOOM!
The ground erupted. Trees snapped. Smoke and embers clouded the battlefield. She landed gracefully, dusting her hands. âDone already?â
But as the smoke clearedâ
Safari still stood.
The vines hung shredded at his feet. His aura blazed brighter than before. His armor was cracked, blood drippingâbut he refused to fall.
âThat all youâve got?â he growled.
The Magician staggered back. âHe⌠survived?â
The Chef whistled. âHah. Tougher than I thought.â
Safariâs roar split the air as he charged, hammer glowing. He swung with monstrous force.
BOOM!
The Chef dodged, but the shockwave hurled her into a tree. She slid to the ground, coughing.
The Magician retaliated. âNatureâs Wrath!â
A massive root tore from the earth, lunging to impale Safari. But Safari spun his hammer, smashing it to splinters.
They froze, exchanging tense glances.
âThis guyâs no joke,â the Magician muttered.
The Chef cracked her neck, grinning. âFinally. Someone worth hitting.â
They braced to unleash their full strengthâ
âHAHAHA, SUCKERS!â
The âhelplessâ monster bolted from behind Safari, sprinting into the forest.
The Magicianâs jaw dropped. âYouâve GOT to be kidding me!â
âUgh!â the Chef groaned. âWe fell for that?!â
Safari leaned on his hammer with a smirk. âGuess you were too busy fighting the wrong devil.â
The Magician clenched his teeth. âThis isnât over.â
âTch. Lost him,â the Chef growled.
They de-transformed revealing themselves to be pretty young.
The Magician sighed, adjusting his hat. âWeâll keep looking.â
Safari collapsed against a tree, breathing hard. His voice was flat, tired not even noticing their features. âDo whatever you want. Iâm done.â
The Chef tilted her head, eyeing him curiously. âNo offense, but you look like a heartbroken devil right now.â
Safariâs eye twitched. ââŚShut up. Get lost before I kill you.â
âTouchy.â the Chef smirked.
The Magician studied him carefully, chin resting on his hand. âStrange⌠doesnât look like a bad guy to me.â
Safari glared, silent.
The Magician shrugged. âWhatever. Weâll see you again, heartbroken devil.â
The two turned and left.
Not far away, their voices carried through the woods.
âThis is your fault!â the Chef barked.
âMy fault?!â the Magician snapped. âYou were too busy showing off!â
âExcuse me? I was fighting while you waved your silly wand!â
âTheyâre advanced spells!â
Their bickering escalated quicklyâloud enough for others to hear.
Zack perked up. âWhoâs fighting?â
Patrick smirked. âSounds like a loverâs quarrel.â
Ianâs eyes lit up. âA loverâs quarrel?! Gold! I need to document this!â
Before anyone could stop him, Ian dashed out, camera flashingâ
Click!
The Chef instantly turned, fist flashing. One punch sent Ianâs precious camera flying.
CRASH!
âNOOO! My documentary footage!â Ian wailed, dropping to his knees in horror.
The family ducked into the bushes, peeking out wide-eyed at the furious pair.
Thenâ
Patrick squinted at the Chef. His eyes widened. âWait⌠Heidi?!â
Grace gasped looking at the Magician. âMike?!â
Angeleva stepped forward, recognition dawning. âI remember them⌠I once helped them in the Fairy Universe.â
Mike and Heidi froze mid-argument, turning toward the group in shock.
