After Hellfire's fall, the rest of the commanders decided to attack Soluna after four days just for the sake of there pride as they followed a protocol of individuality.
And they never wanted to take advantage of the vulnerability of Soluna caused by Hellfire. As that would mean even if they won, half of the credit would still go to there dead comrade.
So, they wanted the Lunar Warrior, Rei to be in her best state so that it was possible for them to keep things fair and get all the credit themselves.
So Four days after that incident...
The dark chamber within Dark Void's baseship felt heavier than before β the air thick with tension after Hellfire's defeat.
Standing at the head of the room, Mighty Fighter remained motionless, his white mask reflecting the faint glow of the chamber's dim lights. His eyes, hidden behind the mask, were calculating... curious.
"Another round," he said softly, his voice calm but commanding. "Rock. Paper. Scissors."
A pause.
Then β
Toxica chose Rock.
Aquadrown chose Scissors.
Just like that β Toxica won.
Aquadrown clenched his jaw, his water-logged fingers curling into a fist.
Toxica's lips curled into a toxic smile β her pale green skin glowing faintly, and her serpent-like hair slithering over her shoulders.
"Looks like it's my turn," she purred, her voice a mix of silk and venom.
Mighty Fighter gave a simple nod, but for a split second β
Was that a flicker of interest behind his mask?
In Soluna...
The attack came swiftly and silently.
Unlike Hellfire's chaotic destruction, Toxica's approach was subtle β a creeping poison rather than an open flame.
The sky didn't darken.
The ground didn't burn.
But the flowers withered. The rivers soured. The air grew sickly sweet, carrying an unnatural aroma.
It started with plants turning black.
Then β people fell ill, collapsing in the streets with green veins glowing beneath their skin.
Soluna wasn't burning β it was rotting.
In the heart of the decaying city, Toxica emerged.
Her gown seemed to be woven from living vines and twisting serpents, her hair hissing softly as the tendrils moved on their own.
The poison oozing from her fingertips left trails of death in her wake.
"I am Toxica," she whispered, her voice carrying through the dying wind. "And your beloved Soluna will drown in my venom."
As the city's cries echoed through the air, Rei appeared β her Lunar hatchets glowing as she transformed.
The people immediately started cheering.
"Here comes our saviour, there is no way you can stop her."
"She can take another one of that molten devil now. Give up you ugly plant."
Rei had not only healed from the battle but hardened herself within these few days, looking far more confident.
Though her burns from the battle with Hellfire still marked her skin, but she stood strong β her eyes locked onto Toxica.
"You won't lay another finger on my people," Rei said, her voice a quiet but steady threat.
Toxica's smile widened.
"Oh, but I've already touched them," she cooed, motioning to the sickened civilians. "You're too late."
Rei's grip tightened on her blades.
Meanwhile...
From a distance β unseen and unheard β Mighty Fighter observed.
His white cloak drifted in the poisoned wind, but he didn't flinch.
Not once.
His masked face was unreadable, but his focus was unwavering.
Just like before, he made no move to interfere.
Instead β
His interest seemed... deeper this time.
Almost like he was watching something bloom β a warrior evolving right before his eyes.
_ _ _
The battle erupted.
Toxica's Poison Whips lashed out β Rei narrowly dodged, the toxic strikes melting the stone where they landed.
Lunar Crescent Strikes flew through the air β Toxica twisted her body like a snake, weaving through the blades with unnatural flexibility.
Toxic Mist clouded the battlefield β Rei summoned a Lunar Barrier to shield herself, but the mist began to erode the shield's surface.
The fight wasn't just physical β it was psychological.
Toxica didn't rely on brute force like Hellfire.
She taunted Rei at every turn β her words slithering into Rei's mind like her poison into the air.
"How many more will suffer because you're too slow?"
"You think the Moon can purify me?"
"You're not a warrior β you're a girl playing hero."
Rei felt something bubbling inside her β a dangerous mix of frustration and doubt.
_ _ _
The battle dragged on longer with Rei using Lunar mirage, Lunar crescent slash, etc but unable to deal much damage.
Toxica's patience snapped.
She couldn't believe, just defeating Hellfire had changed her so much.
Her body shifted in humiliationβ her limbs twisting as her hair fully transformed into a crown of writhing serpents.
Her gown dissolved into a carapace of toxic scales, and her nails lengthened into venomous claws dripping with deadly liquid.
Her voice β once smooth β became a venomous hiss.
"You...how dare you defy me for so long...you betrayer?" she snarled. "Now, face the wrath of my true form as redemption."
The ground beneath her rotted further, venom rivers spilling from her footsteps.
Rei's lungs burned β the poison in the air growing stronger.
Her Lunar Shield cracked.
Her blades trembled in her hands.
_ _ _
Toxica was preparing her strongest attack immediatelyβ a Venom Burst Wave strong enough to consume the city β Rei shut her eyes.
Her mind raced back to her training.
Moonsalt's voice echoed β reminding her that the Moon's power wasn't just borrowing light...
...It was purification.
In that moment β Rei channeled every ounce of Lunar energy she had.
Her armour glowed blacker β the poison in the air beginning to sizzle and dissipate, even her resolve to protect the people flowed inside her just like the other day except she was strong enough to have there level of power.
The people who were horror stricken looked at her speechless.
And then β
She unleashed:
"LUNAR WAVE DEVOURER!"
A black-cold wave of moonlight shot from her hatchets summoning all the strength she garnered from the training, the resolve to protect Soluna and finally the will to prove that she is no longer the puppet of Dark Void and had chosen her path as the saviour. It was the combination of everything she had.
The wave gradually washed over Toxica's poisonous form but she still tried her best to resist it with more poison and decayed plants but even though she had formidable powers, she was no match for the Black Lunar Warrior who had surpassed her with resolve and power together which was way too overwhelming for her making her shudder in a last moment fear which lead to hesitation. That hesitation lead to nervousness which finally gave a little opening. That was enoughβ
Rei's attack finally broke through her form burning through the venom and cleansing the battlefield.
Toxica's screams pierced the air as the Lunar energy overwhelmed her toxins β her serpentine form dissolving into smoke and poison.
When the dark faded β
Toxica collapsed β her poison cleansed, her body broken.
_ _ _
Rei was panting, her vision blurry from the lingering poison.
The Solar and Lunar people who witnessed everything finally surrounded her in acknowledgement cheering her as if they were a part of a fan club.
But again, a single figure remained hidden in the shadows.
Mighty Fighter.
His head tilted slightly β the smallest sign of... something more than interest.
Mighty Fighter whispered to himself β a soft but telling murmur beneath his mask:
"She's getting stronger as expected."
A slight pause β
Then a quiet, almost satisfied whisper:
"Good."
And just like before β
He disappeared.
Meanwhile...
In the depths of his fortress, Dark Void sat upon his shadowed throne β his usual air of cold dominance was now pierced by a rare flicker of tension.
Two of his commanders β Hellfire and Toxica β had fallen.
Not to Tim.
Not to a combined force of Solar and Lunar soldiers.
But to Rei β alone.
His fingers drummed lightly against the armrest, the rhythm slow, calculated β yet betraying his frustration.
The silence in the chamber was suffocating.
Until a calm voice cut through it.
"You're troubled."
It was Mighty Fighter β standing tall and unmoving, his white mask emotionless, his tone steady as ever.
Dark Void's gaze burned like black flames.
"She grows stronger," Dark Void muttered. "Your commanders β my commanders β are falling like leaves in the wind."
Mighty Fighter didn't flinch.
"There is still me."
The words were simple β but unshakably confident.
Yet before Dark Void could respond, a sudden voice interrupted β
"You won't get the chance."
It was Aquadrown.
The last of the three commanders.
He stepped forward β water rippling at his feet with each step. His cloak, seemingly made of liquid, trailed behind him like a waterfall frozen in motion.
The Next day...
Aquadrown dashed to Soluna without bothering to take permission knowing the Lunar Warrior would be in proper fighting form. So that itself would still conserve there protocol even if he was the only one left.
